Well Done, Beckham

It’s safe to say my opinion of David Beckham has pretty much shot through the stratosphere at this point. Putting on the green and gold scarf at Old Trafford after the Manchester United – A.C. Milan Champions League game this week was a pretty ballsy move, especially as the club is cracking down on all signs of dissent by its fans and employees on-site.

David Beckham dons green and gold, aligning himself with the anti-Glazer protesters.

Kudos also to current player Patrice Evra, who really stuck his neck out in a recent interview:

. . .  the only current player to sympathise has been Patrice Evra, in response to a French journalist who asked why the United end at Wembley was decked out in green and gold. “They are the original colours of Manchester United [as Newton Heath] and the fans wear them because they love this club,” Evra said. “They have their reasons for doing it and we don’t think that they’re crazy.”

At the rate things are going, maybe the only people going to games at Old Trafford by next season will be foreign tourists who don’t know any better.
