Shame On Us, Lancaster County

From this morning’s Lancaster (Pa.) Intelligencer Journal:

Ex-Breeder Sentenced for Cruelty, But Allowed to Retake Custody of Dog

Puppy Mill operator Elvin L. High, convicted on animal cruelty charges for the second time in six years, is getting his dog back. It’s amazing the kind of bullshit you can get away with in Lancaster County if you’re a good ole’ bouva…

While I do not share this individual’s love of Oprah, I must admit that I’ll probably wind up watching tomorrow afternoon’s show all the same, as it’s an investigation of the abysmal conditions in puppy mills. This particular corner of Pennsylvania is quite possibly the biggest offender in the United States. I suggest you watch it, too, if you can get the chance. I never thought I would find myself promoting the Oprah show, but there you go.
