Memo from the Obnoxious Moralizing Killjoy Department:
I hope everyone’s had a happy Thanksgiving. Personally, I just couldn’t let the day go by without flinging a bucket of red paint on it, so here’s the late, great Shel Silverstein, who had a way of putting things far better than I ever could:
Point of View
Thanksgiving dinner’s sad and thankless
Christmas dinner’s dark and blue
When you stop and try to see it
From the turkey’s point of view.
Sunday dinner isn’t sunny
Easter feasts are just bad luck
When you see it from the viewpoint
of a chicken or a duck.
Oh how I once loved tuna salad
Pork, lobsters, lamb chops too
‘Til I stopped and looked at dinner
From the dinner’s point of view.
I tell ya, life ain’t easy for a boy named Sue…
